The first, and perhaps most obvious, is to showcase the property in its best light – literally and figuratively. He aims to represent the space in its biggest, brightest, and shiniest form, highlighting its key features and creating an inviting impression for potential buyers.
But the second goal, Russ revealed, is equally important, though perhaps less obvious. It's about capturing the specific details that the seller cherishes and wants to remember. These details, often overlooked in wide-angle shots, become a memento of their time in the home. They might be architectural details, a favorite view from a window, or even the way the light falls in a particular room. These are the elements that truly capture the heart of a home.
The Beauty of Vignettes
Russ also shared his love for capturing the "vignettes" of a home. He explained how he looks for those special, smaller moments – the archways, the mouldings, the unique doors, and the picturesque views. He sees these details as opportunities to pause and reflect on the character of the home. "There are so many opportunities in these Brooklyn homes, both old and modern," Russ explained, "to zoom in and examine the specifics." He emphasized that while main photography often focuses on the overall size and vastness of a space, it's in these smaller details that we truly get to appreciate the unique beauty of a home.
